Dan Jones: The Hypnotherapist
A Hypnotherapist is someone trained in a form of therapy that also uses Hypnosis to help facilitate faster change.
For me I use a mixture of therapeutic approaches including Solution Focused Therapy; Human Givens Therapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Ericksonian Therapy and Eastern Approaches.
I use Hypnotherapy for difficulties that require significant unconscious re-alignment and for problems that are predominantly unconscious in nature with very little conscious control over the problem.
For things that can be changed by setting goals; stages; tasks; or putting in conscious work I generally don't use Hypnotherapy. I use a stargazing technique as a part of the Holistic Well-Being Coaching which is a guided imagery 'mental rehearsal' process as cognitive research shows this helps to fire of neurons in the brain that makes taking on new behaviour easier, quicker and more effective.

What Does A Holistic Well-Being Coach Do?
As an Holistic Well-Being Coach it is my role to support people in finding what they want to be different in life and to look at the most effective way this can be realised for the individual I am working with.
I help people to achieve contentment, happiness or prosperity in their lives.
Everyone is an individual so every person gets their own unique guide to success. What the client brings to the table is a whole lifetime of resources and what I bring to the table is a knowledge of how people work.
One description I often use is that clients come to me like a big tub of Lego. They have more than enough pieces to make the item they are showing me a picture of that they would like to make but they can't step outside of themselves to objectively see all of those pieces and select which ones would be best used to create that Lego item. My role is to look at the picture; look at all the pieces in front of me and then work out how an item that resembles that picture can be created as quickly and easily as possible.
Usually my role is to stimulate certain thought processes to help clients find their own answers. Sometimes there is information the client may not know or realise and so I may need to suggest ideas that will create a 'developmental opportunity' which is a situation where the client will discover or learn something new. Sometimes these 'developmental opportunities' can seem illogical or confusing. This is natural because I am suggesting something the client hasn't yet learnt.
For example I may suggest to someone with insomnia that they stay awake all night every time they aren't asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed. They may find this confusing or illogical because they can't understand how staying awake is going to help them to sleep; yet I know it works because I know things that client doesn't know about how the mind works in situations like this.

How Does Holistic Well-Being Coaching Work?
Every person is treated as an individual so 'how it works' can only be broadly described. The process is to identify what the client would like to be different. I would want to know what the client wants in sensory specific terms and how they will know when they have achieved this. Many people start out by telling me 'I don't want...' etc... This doesn't tell me what they specifically do want to be different only what they don't want to be there in the future.
Once I know what they want and how they will know when they have achieved that I then want to ensure it is a realistic goal and within the clients control. When I know this I move on to wanting to know the stages they need to have in place to achieve that goal and the time periods they feel it will take them to achieve each stage and ultimately their final goal.
It is during this stage that I will perhaps suggest 'developmental opportunities' to the client as a way of broadening their knowledge and teaching their mind-body something new they didn't know they knew.
Holistic Well-Being Coaching is an interactive process. The Holistic Well-Being Coach doesn't do all the work and the client doesn't do all the work. You both work together with the client having the raw materials and the Holistic Well-Being Coach having the tools and manual.
Towards the end of sessions when we have a goal and all of the required stages I guide the client through my 'star-gazing' process which begins to create & strengthen new neural pathways to success. This helps the clients on an instinctive intuitive level by encouraging the natural 'self-fulfilling prophecy' part of the mind to notice things that will help you as a being to achieve what you are setting out to achieve.
At the end of each session a 'step towards success' or 'developmental opportunity' will be set. If it is a 'step towards success' then this will be something that is a part of your success plan that you can do and achieve before we next meet. If it is a 'developmental opportunity' then it will be something that will help you to move forwards and get closer to success by learning something new.
As I have mentioned previously; Holistic Well-Being Coaching is an interactive process not a passive process. If you don't take action and carry out the 'steps towards success' or 'developmental opportunities' you are unlikely to move forwards and achieve success.
The general format of session two onwards is to start by finding out what has been done since we last met towards achieving the goal or the stage, has the 'developmental opportunity' or 'step towards success' been completed and how did this go and how can you continue to move forwards. If you have achieved a stage towards your goal then we would move on to discussing what needs to happen to successfully achieve the next stage. Towards the end of the session we would have the 'star-gazing' process then at the end would set the next 'step towards success' or 'developmental opportunity'.
How Long Will I Need To See A Holistic Well-Being Coach?
How many sessions you have and how often you see a Holistic Well-Being Coach are two different things. I often work by setting the sessions in line with when goals will be completed. Sometimes clients like to have one or two sessions between stages to keep them motivated or if they have challenges to face that they feel they need a little more support to achieve.
There are a range of packages with different frequencies of sessions to suit each clients individual needs whether this is a couple of times a week, weekly, monthly or a mixture of these.

Sessions last about 90 minutes although some people like to arrange sessions of different lengths up to whole day sessions depending on what they would like to get from the session. (This is especially the case for people that travel long distances to see me or those that want me to do home visits to them)
There are a few different options for how I work: Agreeing a number of sessions with the client that we think it would take to achieve the goal - this option includes unlimited email support*; Holistic Well-Being eCoaching where we agree a number of key stages and for each of these stages you will receive a personally made audio session in mp3 format that will be emailed to you and will receive unlimited email support* during the duration of the number of audio sessions that have been agreed.
For the 'one to one' packages you can also receive a 10 minute 'Power Session'. This is a one off session where you arrange in advance (sometimes we can agree for it to be 'when you need it' rather than agreeing a time in advance like if you were quiting smoking for example and wanted to call during a craving) a time when we can talk on the phone and at that time you call me up and receive a 10 minute 'boost'. This can be useful for example if you are just about to give a presentation and you need that extra kick before it begins; or if you are losing weight and need a 'boost' to keep you on track in a difficult situation; or if you are quiting smoking and you get a strong craving. What Can A Holistic Well-Being Coach Help Me With?
The aim of a Holistic Well-Being Coach is to help you to achieve contentment, happiness, improved health and prosperity. People come to me with a wide range of changes they would like. I have worked with people with Anxiety Problems, Depression, OCD, PTSD, Phobias, Parenting Issues, Addictions, Performance Enhancement, Personal Development, Weight Loss, Success Achievement and more.
If you are willing to be pro-active in working with me to achieve your goals then you stand a good chance of success. It is an interactive process rather than passive. I don't 'do' things to people I support people to take control of their own life and create the life they want.
You can visit the 'Case Studies' page to see examples of how I have helped people to take control of their lives and visit the 'Testimonials' page to view feedback about my work.
*The unlimited email support allows you to contact me with any questions or progress reports for ongoing support. I aim to respond to your emails within 48hrs; but will do so as soon as possible so in many cases it is likely to be within 24hrs. The unlimited email support starts from when payment is received and continues for the duration of sessions (one to one or mp3 audio) agreed in advance. For example if it is agreed that there are six stages over six months then the agreed fee will allow for unlimited email support for the duration of those six stages so you will have six months of unlimited email support and either six one to one sessions or six mp3 audio sessions over that time. If it is agreed between us that a couple more sessions are required during that period or within a month of the end of the period we have agreed then these will be included free of charge (whether extra mp3 audio sessions or one to one sessions).
At the end of the agreed number of sessions we review progress and see whether the goal is reached and if not how close are we to the goal and what more is needed and what has led to not yet reaching it. If it is very close then we may agree to have one or two more sessions over the next month for free just to finish off the last few bits. If it is likely to take a little longer than this then we will look at how much longer and what needs to still be achieved and what support you need to achieve that. Then we can agree a new programme of sessions. Some people may feel they can take the skills they have mastered and complete the work themselves; others feel they only need contact with me and agree an 'unlimited email only' package for a duration of time; others agree a number of extra sessions or extra mp3 audio sessions and the duration this will be over.
The advantage of packages is that you know up front what you are paying for and what you will get for what you have paid.
